It is my understanding that the opportunities and payment will be known up front and you can choose whether or not to complete them. I would recommend starting with the FREE version.
If you've never done a mystery shop, they're quite straight forward and pretty simple. I once did a mystery shop at a pharmacy inside a major retailer. It was really easy and I was paid $10 for the few minutes it took to complete the shop and fill out the online survey.

Is this really legit? I have always been weary of these things. It sounds to good to be true! ;) getting paid to shop?.?.?. I thought that was called couponing!!!!!! Lol
I would not say it is easy. I have done it. I made $10-20 per week doing mystery shops. I did a series of mystery shops for a grocery chain in my area and earned gift cards from them. I was going there anyway to shop so it was nothing out of my way.
It is legit!
