Teacher Appreciation Week

This week is National Teacher Appreciation Week! If you have kids in school this is the week to say, "Thanks!" to your teacher. A frugal friend and fellow teacher gave me this great idea last year and I'm using it again because I really think it's cute (and frugal too)! Plus my children in school have the MOST WONDERFUL teachers this year. They deserve so much more than this little token but it's the thought that counts, right?
~~~
~~~
Here's the breakdown of this little $4 & Under Gift:
Flower: Dahlia, Gerber Daisy, or ANY flower $4 or less @ Walmart
2 pieces of tissue paper - already had on hand
Curling ribbon - had on hand
Paper for poem
~~~
~~~
Just wrap the ugly little pot in foil, then two colors of tissue paper - layered. Tie with two or three colors of curling ribbon. Attach your poem. We found such a cute poem online that my daugher loved. She signed her name on the card, glued it to a popsicle stick and voila! She is excited to take this in to her teacher tomorrow!

here is another idea--each child in my daughter's class is bringing in 2 cut flowers of their choice...they will be arranged in a vase by a mom and given to the teachers. thought that this was sweet and inexpensive! ;)

Here is the one my preschooler made:

I chose this special present because I wanted you to know,
That I'm grateful for your hard work in helping me to grow.
For your constant understanding and for always being there,
To tell me I can do it and to show me that you care!

My daughter liked this one:

(Name of teacher),
I look forward to your class
When I come to school.
You're an awesome teacher;
I think you're very cool.

You're smart and fair and friendly;
You're helping all of us.
And if I got to grade you,
From me you'd get A+!

Another frugal idea would be to buy the flowers you suggested and have the kids paint a terra cotta pot......that could even be used for grandmas!
