An Interesting Tidbit from Walmart

I don't know about you, but I've been personally disappointed with Walmart's selection of brands after their remodel about a year ago.  The electronics section, which I never set foot in, is bigger than ever, but in grocery, many brands are nowhere to be found.

Here is an interesting tidbit from Walmart with their plan of action:

Wal-Mart announced it is bringing back thousands of products that were dumped from stores, they say they are ready to roll up their sleeves to win the lowest-price battle with their rivals. “We’re bringing back products and brands [our customers] want,” said Mac Naughton.

After alienating customers by culling too many products from shelves, Wal-Mart is bringing the variety back by adding 8,500 items to stores.

From now on, if customers find a lower advertised price, Wal-Mart promises to match that price at the register in all stores without requiring shoppers to bring in a competitor’s ad as proof.

At least they know they alienated us. :)  And what's better, they're willing to win us back with price matching!!  I actually just saw a national TV commercial advertising this!

Thanks, Mojo Savings!

sounds great, but no proof?
in the past I've had to bring the store ad with me to show them, and also most of the time the clerk has no idea what I am showing them (that they will match other store prices) and finally gets the manager, who says that they do.

I know this sounds weird but one minute after I posted this, I saw a national TV ad with this very information in it!

If you watch TV, you'll see it too!

When will this start? I always price match but lately my walmart hasn't been good at restocking anything!! Also do you know if this new price match means they will do any store even out of the local area? Example there is not a Kroger in my town some cashiers will price match when I show the ad others say it's only for local stores. The with out an ad can get tricky cause some people will lie so I don't know how that will work.

Interesting.........I RARELY shop there. In michigan, I don't find the prices that great & I ALWAYS get grief at the register for coupons. I'm NEVER trying to do anything wrong, but the cashiers that I have encountered are just not nice about the coupons. It ends up being more of a hassle than anything. Plus they seem to want to promote their brand above anything else. As big as they are, you think they would be better about things.

I agree with you Staphanie! Our Wal Marts got so bad about coupons that I quit shopping there except for a trip about every 3 months for things that I just needed to get there. I got tired of being looked at like a criminal. Our Wal Marts are none too clean either and that kind makes me not want to buy food products there. I have seen that they are trying to change but I think it may be too late as many have gotten out of the habit of shopping there. We also have the issue of the store shelves being bare and no one knowing when they will restock an item.

I saw this information on the news last night. They also mentioned the no proof price match.

I can't see how that is going to work. I mean, if cashiers are not friendly about coupons, imagine how they will act about not showing proof of a price. The only time I have gone to walmart is to price match on black friday (save gas).

The commerical had Randy Jackson in it!
I've price matched with a Target ad in hand--closest Target is 40 miles away! How could they price match w/o an ad??

I saw the commercial on TV yesterday. I'm afraid it won't work because people will lie and then Walmart will stop doing it. It will hurt the rest of us. Walmarts in Orlando area are nasty about coupons and price matching, but they're not as bad as Target! I wonder how matching is going to work with store brands. Some stores will match other store brands for their own, but some won't.
