I saw this somewhere else too, but are the boxes free or is the shipping for each box free?

Flat rate shipping boxes from USPS are free (not only during christmass, you can order them or pick them up at local post office). The price of box is embeded in price of shipping that is e.g. for medium box $10.90. Basically you pay higher postage compared to firts class. These boxes are good if you dont have own cheap packing supplies. I would recommend to use USPS calculator based on weight and zip code it will show ou various prices - flat rate, first class, priority. Flat rate boxes, priority enelopes and first class envelopes are free for pickup at you local post.
These will come in handy for some heavy sweaters that I will send to my sis in NY for Xmas. I hate having to worry about weighing items.
