Giveaway: $50 BJ's Wholesale Club Gift Card

Can shopping at wholesale clubs really save you money?  That's a question many couponers often ask themselves.  Since we're able to score so many great deals at the grocery store, who needs the bulk store?

Whether or not you can save money at wholesale clubs really depends on your situation.  But in general there are some good deals to be had at wholesale clubs.  These are some ways you can save.

Buy Meat and Cheese in Bulk
Buy large packages of meat, poultry and cheese and break them down into quantities right-sized for your family. Over time, the savings versus local supermarket prices can be significant.  Stock your freezer!

Shop the Perimeter
The best buys are around the perimeter. For instance, organic milk, eggs, and sliced bread are often substantially cheaper at a club store. The center section is where random impulse buys lurk, like pajamas, toys, and books.

Know A Good Deal by Unit Pricing
Since bigger doesn't necessarily mean cheaper, be sure you know the best unit price on items and take a calculator.

Know Your Store's Policy on Coupons
Savings will add up quicker if your bulk food store accepts coupons.  BJ's is the only bulk store to accept manufacturer's coupons, and they have store coupons available in flyers and online.  They have printable BJ's coupons available at their website.

Shop with FREE Memberships
Most wholesale clubs offer a period of FREE memberships for you to try out the store.  BJ's is currently offering a FREE 60 day Membership!

Below is a list of the BJ's clubs in Pennsylvania:

· Allentown   · Camp Hill  · Plymouth Meeting  · Downingtown  · Langhorne  · Lancaster  · Oaks
· Philadelphia  · South Philadelphia  · Quakertown   ·Reading  · Springfield  · Stroudsburg
· Warrington  · York         :: Find a BJ's club near you HERE!

It is so important to know prices before shopping at a big box store warehouse. The best ones give store coupons and allow you to pair with manfuctures Qs too. Don't overbuy!

Sam's Club has the 60-count Swiss Miss with Marshmallows for $6+ change. That's around 60 cents per 10 pack box.

BJs lets you use coupons and they have store coupons as well. If something has 2 of something in a pack, you can use 2 coupons that is a $ off 1 item.

I make sure to stack my coupons at BJs. I saved $12 on one box of diapers last week with a $7 BJs coupon and a $5 mfr coupon! I also always pick up 1/2 and 1/2 when I'm there, along with the double pack of bread. Don't forget to pick up the unpublished store coupons by the door (or they may still have them at customer service)!

Look for coupons issued by wholesale stores to max the saving!

A gallon of milk at BJ's is almost always cheaper than the grocery store price. You don't have to buy more than one gallon at BJ's either!

I always shop for Reggiano Parmesan at BJ's. It's a lot cheaper than the grocery store. For those who are not familiar with Reggiano Parmesan, it is "real" parmesan. Once you have the real thing, you can't go back.

I also like to get my chocolate milk mix there, also soy milk.

Baking supplies are always a good deal, flour, sugar, spices (only if there are some you use a lot of). I never buy paper products, there are always better deals on tp and paper towels.

Baking Soda!!! I buy 13lb bags for $5.95. That's an awesome price, especially if you use the coupons at BJs. (i'm potty training right now so we're going through a lot of it with laundry:)

You can use a store coupon and multiple manufacturers coupons on many products. For example, if you are buying a three pack of an item, you could use a store coupon and three manufacturers coupons on that one item.

I have found the deli has very competitive prices. I buy the cheese and freeze some so that it will last the whole week. (if my kids see it in the fridge, they eat it faster!)

I utilized the BJ's monthly mailers and the in-store coupons - I can stack with my mnf coupon and save big - If you have never utilized the coupon flyers in-store they are worth a look.

I compare the price per unit because wholesale stores are not always the best price. There are some good deals on items that you can't find at a regular store.

When I've been lucky enough to get a free product coupon, often they would be acceptable on the larger products in BJs. The coupons do have a max value limit so I would have to pay a relatively small amount. For example, my free FiberOne coupon + $3 got me a 20 count box instead of the regular 5 count box.
